Take More Control Over WordPress – Administration Screen, Screen Options
Jan 6, 2014
WordPress offers a lot of control to its users. There are so many options in a default installation, that the developers chose to limit what’s visible. To access all of the default controls look to the top right corner of the screen, there’s a tab that says “Screen Options”.
When you click “Screen Options” an option panel lowers down. You can enable or disable fields by checking the boxes. Each screen may have a different set of screen options, so look up there occasionally as you learn WordPress, and find out what new resources exist (or hide ones that you never use!)
Post/Pages Screen Options Include all of the following functions:
Show/Hide Discussion (allow or disallow Comments), Show/Hide Custom Fields, Show/Hide Excerpt Field, Show/Hide Post/Page Slug, Show/Hide Author, Show/Hide Format, Show/Hide Categories, Show/Hide Tags, Show/Hide Featured Image Uploader.
Whereas the Screen Options on the Admin Screen for Comments only include two fields, which show or hide columns in the grid.
