MailChimp General Signup Forms for WordPress

Find MailChimp’s email signup form generator for your newsletter lists.

MailChimp offers almost all of the features of a full-scale newsletter service for free. That’s one of the reasons it serves 30% of the Email Marketing consumers. Another reason is MailChimp’s intuitive layout and structure. Using Email Lists, Email Templates, and Campaigns ( an email, or a round of emails, depending on your goals ) is a snap to understand and a breeze to configure.

One important component to the equation has often stumped my clients that are new to MailChimp: How to generate signup forms for their WordPress website.

The clickpath to find the email signup form generator is a bit more obscure that you might guess because forms are not top-level content. It wouldn’t make sense to have a big, desktop link to “forms”, because each form feeds just one MailChimp email list. That’s the first lead.

1. After logging in, to get to your form generators, select “Lists” on the left hand navigation bar.Screen shot 2013-11-12 at 6.31.43 PM

2. Click on the name of the list for which you’d like a form.Screen shot 2013-11-12 at 6.32.05 PM

3. Select “Signup Forms” on the top navigation of the next page.Screen shot 2013-11-12 at 6.33.19 PM

4. Select “General Forms”.Screen shot 2013-11-12 at 6.33.58 PM

5. Now, you’ve arrived at the form editor. It’s a drag-and-drop, you can edit the fonts, colors, content, and fields all by using the editor elements.Mailchimp Form Editor

When you are done customizing your form, don’t bother looking for the “save” button. MailChimp already saved your changes, and accordingly, there is not button.

Notice the Signup form URL (should be something like “http://eepurl.com/…”) and the social share buttons. Use this URL to share your form around the web!Screen shot 2013-11-12 at 10.04.58 PM
