Hosting Service, in Greater Detail
The best way to get malware injected on your site is to let the software get out of date – hackers find ways to exploit software over time. Your website needs to be up to date or those exploits will be used against you.
When a website gets infected with malware, it sends spam emails, infects visitors with viruses, and does other malicious things. Those activities give the website a bad reputation, namely by being “blacklisted.” Internet Service Providers, like Google, refuse to accept data from websites that are blacklisted.
When your IP is blacklisted, visitors may get a security notice while trying to access your website, your emails may be blocked by the people you want to email, and visitors to your website may get computer viruses, or their personal data stolen.
So, you need to keep your site updated!
That's correct. But, paradoxically, the best way to break your website is to update the software – sometimes updates fail before completing, or new versions of software conflict with each other. Updating to software that has conflicts can bring your site down instantly.
With Managed Hosting, we will take care of your updates so that you can be maximally secure. And our updating technique protects you from experiencing a broken website. We will (1) update an exact replica of your website - the staging site - on our server, (2) check for any issues with the staging site, and (3) update your live website. It’s like an auto mechanic that comes to your house and checks your car out and tunes it up when you aren’t using it so it always stays ready.
2 Gigabytes of Storage & 20 Gigabytes of Bandwidth per Month
Most medium and some large businesses fit well within our base-level space and storage. If you purchase Managed Hosting, your staging site (a duplicate of your live site that we use to test updates before updating your live site and that we use for other development purposes) will consume some of your storage space.
Dedicated IP for the Website
A dedicated IP for your website ensures that your websites reputation isn’t negatively impacted by another website's activities. Many hosting providers offer “shared hosting plans”, which should read, “shared IP address hosting plans.” A dedicated IP means your website is less vulnerable, and that your website will run faster.
SSL Certificate for the Website
An SSL Certificate is a third-party identification for your website. Internet Service Providers and anti-spam agencies are able to trust your website more quickly with an SSL certificate. An SSL certificate also allows your website to run on HTTPS, encrypted data transfer, which protects your users from having their data stolen, and reduces the chances that malware could be placed on your website. Plus running on SSL improves your SEO rating.
Advanced Security settings for the Website
I will harden your website against attack with measures that conceal or eliminate known weaknesses in WordPress and that protect against common attacks - like brute force and XSS attacks. And we will setup routine malware scans so that if your site becomes corrupt, we'll find out and will be able to take action.
I will take a backup of your site every other day and store 6 weeks of backups so that, if something goes wrong, we can recover your site.
Domain Name Registration
We will take care of your website domain for you so you don't have to keep track of multiple accounts.
If you are using our Hosting or Managed Hosting service and something breaks, you may have to pay for repair. Most of the time, when a website breaks, it is because of a software issue - not the hosting platform. The most common software issues that break websites include:
- becoming infected with malware (ie, getting 'hacked')
- updating plugins/wordpress to incompatible versions
- installing incompatible plugins
The critical benefit of Managed WordPress Hosting is that there will be very few chances that you will incur an unexpected cost. Since we test all updates and new plugins on a duplicate instance of your website before updating your live site, if a problem is about to occur, we catch it before it affects your live website. That means we can come up with a plan for getting around the issue before it's a real problem.
